Dickinson Fire Cadets
The Dickinson Fire Cadets is a hands-on youth program offered in partnership with the Dickinson Fire Department and Dickinson Parks & Recreation. Designed for students going into grades 6–8, the class introduces basic fire service skills through physical training and team-based activities. Participants will practice flowing water and hose handling, fire extinguisher and water can use, CPR, radio communications, and basic ropes and knots. The program builds fitness, confidence, and teamwork while teaching safety and emergency response fundamentals.

Little Cooks

Tiny Sports
This is a great introductory class for toddlers to socialize and learn how to play both individual and team sports. Creative Connection

Gamer Ascend
Join us for two thrilling weeks of competitive gaming in a tournament-style format! Kids Zone
Whether you're waiting for your next program or simply looking for something fun to do, this flexible class has you covered! Each day includes a mix of organized activities, open play on the basketball courts, a creative space for drawing and coloring, and plenty of outdoor fun. It’s a great way for kids to stay active, express their creativity, and make new friends in a relaxed and welcoming environment. If your child’s next program is at the West River Community Center or West River Ice Center, our staff are happy to help ensure they get there safely and on time.

T-Ball
Intro to T-Ball (4 yr old)
Learn the fundamentals of base running, catching and throwing (without gloves) and proper batting stance/grip. No glove required. REQUIREMENTS:- Fee is $15
- Must be age 4 by the first day of program.

T-Ball (5-6 yr old)
Players ages 5-6 will be introduced to the basic skills of throwing, catching, hitting, and running the bases. Participants will hit off the batting tee for entire program. REQUIREMENTS:- Fee is $45

Baking and decorating is easy, right? In our four day class we'll find out how easy it really is. Together, we'll bake a cake from scratch, learn cupcake and cake decorating techniques and decorate a cake.

- January 5: Watercolor Polar Bears - We'll make a simple close-up of the face in a cartoon style with a colorful background
- January 12: Snow Bunnies- We’ll make a close-up of a white rabbit with a blue background. This week, we’ll practice creating value with the rabbit’s fur mixing paints.
- January 26: Watercolor Resist Jellyfish – Reveal the colors of your undersea creations using crayons and watercolor paints.
- February 2: Clay Spiral Turtles – Create a cute turtle friend from air dry clay using toothpicks, pencils and other tools to decorate.
- February 9: Valentine’s Day Theme: Creating animals using a variety of heart shapes.
- February 23: Tin Foil Watercolor Creations – We will create fun artwork experimenting with crayons and marker on tinfoil to transfer onto paper. No project looks the same after!
- March 2: Silly Foxes- Though the use of balloons, we’ll mix the paint to make a fun texture by dipping them onto our paper. Once dry, we will trace out the pieces to make our fox.
- March 9: Drawing Symmetrical Dogs with Oil Pastels – On a folded paper we will draw half of a dog and outline with oil pastel. When we fold the paper with the oil pastel on the inside and press down a feint outline of the dog appears on the other side creatine a symmetrical forward-facing dog to color.
- January 5: Watercolor Polar Bears - We'll do a more realistic-looking polar bear with northern lights.
- January 12: Snow Bunnies- Through the use of Q-tips and brushes, we’ll work on creating realistic fur textures on the rabbits and create a background of your choice.
- January 26: Jen Aranyi Inspired Landscapes – Be inspired by the watercolor landscapes of Jen Aranyi and create your own masterpiece with watercolor and sharpies.
- February 2: Air Dry Clay Creations – Learn some new techniques that can be applied to air dry or oven baked clay to improve your 3-D sculpting and building techniques. Students apply these skills to a project creation of their choice.
- February 9: Red Pandas with Hearts – Celebrate Valentine’s Day by drawing and coloring a festive Red Panda and creating values and shades with coloring tools.
- February 23: Tin Foil Watercolors- We’ll test how other drawing materials work such as oil pastels, marker, crayon, etc. when creating backgrounds with tin foil and markers.
- March 2: Abstract Art Balloon Paintings – Use balloons to mix and create colorful backgrounds that you can paint directly on after drying or create fun mixed media pieces by drawing and gluing separate art pieces onto of your new backgrounds.
- March 9: Symmetrical Animals or Car Drawings with Oil Pastels – Having trouble drawing an animal, person or object from the front? Practice symmetrical faces by drawing half with oil pastel and then transferring an exact copy to the other side of your paper to finish the front facing view of your subject.

Sign up to receive a phone call from the North Pole and help Santa and his elves get ready for Christmas Day. Elementary Cross Country
Elementary Cross Country is a great way to introduce the youth of Dickinson and surrounding communities to the sport of cross country. Kids will have the chance to compete in their age group. Meets are held each Wednesday in September.

Workout at your own pace to reach your goal!
This event is focused on getting people out to enjoy our parks for the summer! Walk a new trail each day, enjoy a bike ride around the Crooked Crane Trail, come lap swim at the indoor pool, or water walk in the sun at the outdoor pool.

Safety City
Dickinson Parks and Recreation offers a comprehensive, award winning safety education program sponsored in part by the Kiwanis Club. Children will practice "real life" safety situations in a miniature "city". They will have fun learning about safety in the following areas: Pedestrian and bicycle safety, railroad crossings, animal safety, electrical safety, school bus safety, stranger danger, seat belts, pool safety, farm safety as well as calling 911 and what to do in an emergency situation. Special guests from the community will make appearances to demonstrate the safety topics addressed each day.

Play Park
Dickinson Parks and Recreation along with the Optimist Club gives children the opportunity to have a structured fun filled morning at the park. Weekly themes and activities are planned by the staff providing for fun times all summer long. Enjoy free time on the play equipment, crafts, songs, and games are all part of this supervised Play Park program. Children must bring a water bottle and snack. Tennis shoes and comfortable clothing adaptable for weather is required.

SEASON INFORMATION
Division: Men, Women & Coed Team Registration Meeting: March 8 - 6:30 pm - WRCC (MANDATORY team representative must be in attendance--MUST bring sponsor fee to this meeting) This league will follow USA Softball rules--allowing for a competitive atmosphere yet with local league rule adaptations for a more recreational playing environment. UMPIRES NEEDED: If you are interested in umpiring please contact Wilson prior to the registration meeting! All umpires are required to be USA Softball sanctioned and wear USA Softball uniform apparel. We will provide training and registration of all umpires.

American Red Cross Certification (Lifeguard, CPR)
We will be conducting American Red Cross Certification Courses. Courses offered are Lifeguard Certification, Re-Certification, and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Courses on an as-needed basis. There will typically be one every month or every other month. Kids Cooking Class
Our thematic cooking classes are designed to give kids a hand on experience in creating something delicious in the kitchen. Kids will work together to make recipes while learning basic cooking skills. Each class features a different theme. Enjoy the dishes in class or take them home to share with family!

Facility Orientation Class
The purpose of this 30-minute course is to provide direction in safety, technique, and gym etiquette to youth members, along with anyone interested in learning more about the fitness equipment. Participants will learn how to properly use our cardio and strength machines and equipment from one of our certified personal trainers. Youth ages 12-13 will be able to use the fitness equipment without parental supervision after the successful completion of this class.

Aquatic (Swimming) Lessons
Aquatic Lessons for parent & me, preschool, levels 1-5 and private lessons.
REQUIREMENTS: Only one session of lessons may be registered for at a time. To sign up for additional swimming lessons you must complete your current session, allowing you to register for the appropriate level. Golf Simulator League
Enjoy the Indoor Golf Simulator at the West River Community Center (WRCC), while keeping your golf swing in shape all year long by participating in this recreational league. 2-person teams compete in friendly match play golf competition. Learn to Belay (Climbing Wall)
We invite you to register for our Learn-to-Belay course, open to anyone ages 16+ who want to become a certified belayer.
