Buildings/Grounds Positions

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal
LOCATION: West River Ice Center

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the safe operations of the West River Ice Center Zamboni’s, with secondary responsibilities of custodial duties ensuring that the facility is safe, clean and well maintained. Duties will be performed in a conscientious, professional manner. Ice surfaces will be maintained to ensure safe usage by all users. Person must be willing to work evening, weekend and/or holiday hours.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for ice maintenance, ice resurfacing equipment, compressor maintenance and general maintenance of the buildings and grounds. Snow-removal, cleaning restrooms, and general facility clean-up.
  • Responsible to maintain the ice on the rinks in a manner that provides a level, smooth, safe, and high quality sheet of ice.
  • Responsible to open/close the facility accordingly for all activities. Reporting times will be determined by your supervisor.
  • Periodically move throughout the facility to check on cleanliness, security and any other problems.
  • Ability to perform highly skilled coordinated movements.
  • Ensure the safety of patrons and take appropriate steps in emergency situations.
  • Answer questions about the facility and programs.
  • Handle customer concerns and complaints in an efficient & professional manner.
  • Appropriate enforcement of the facilities policies and procedures.
  • Always represent the Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.
  • Become familiar with the Park District programs and brochure.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Facility Positions

TYPE: Part-Time
LOCATION: West River Community Center
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals will be responsible for organizing and instructing aerobic activities, classes, and participants. Other responsibilities include implementing and monitoring assigned programs, demonstrating specific skills and teaching techniques, preparing and completing all records and reports, monitoring correct techniques, and handling complaints, questions, and concerns. Year-round position; Monday – Sunday.

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal
LOCATION: West River Ice Center
AGE REQUIREMENT: 18+
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals (age 18 or older) will be responsible for the opening/closing of public skate, as well as collecting fees, patrolling the ice, light cleaning, and provide customer service in a professional manner. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.  Season runs:  October – March; Friday – Sunday.

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal
LOCATION: West River Community Center
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals will be responsible for providing a safe environment at our pool facilities. Lifeguards will provide a positive image of the facility and its services by attentive, conscientious, and courteous behavior on the job. Other duties include watching swimmers through safe scanning practices, maintaining order in the pool areas, test and treat water accordingly, complete accident and rescue reports as necessary, perform CPR and first aid as needed as well as being trained to enforce safe operations of slides, ladders, and general pool use guidelines. Year-round position; Monday – Sunday.
