Buildings/Grounds Positions
Dickinson Parks & Recreation is seeking motivated candidates for the position of Park Operations Specialist. This position is full-time with the full benefits package of the Park District. Position will start at a minimum of $19.23/hour.

Job Description
Position will be responsible to assist the Park Operations Manager in the maintenance/operations of parks and other grounds, specifically related to construction projects, mechanical repairs, irrigation installation/repair, and other general maintenance tasks. The position will work out of the Park Maintenance Shop.
Essential Functions

- Participates daily in activities related to the maintenance/operations of parks and facility grounds.
- Performs turf and landscape maintenance functions including: refuse pickup, seeding, sodding, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, aerating, irrigation installation, and irrigation repairs.
- Assists in the maintenance of buildings and facilities in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions in accordance with park maintenance standards.
- Assists in construction and renovation of park grounds, facilities, and equipment.
- Operates a variety of park maintenance equipment such as: mowers, tractors, trucks, shop equipment, trimmers and field groomers in a safe manner.
- Assists in training and supervising seasonal maintenance staff.
- Communicates effectively with proper subordinates and maintains positive working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.
- Represents Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.
- May be required to work as Ice Center Specialist during winter months.
- Attends regular department meetings and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
- One year of experience in maintenance or grounds work; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED; or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months of employment.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions on facility grounds. The noise level in the work environment and facility grounds can be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing routinely throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Classified as full-time fully benefited position which is approved and regularly funded for. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a half hour lunch break. Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with no lunch break. Occasional special event, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Receives all defined DPR benefits described under the Benefits section of the Personnel Policy Manual.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individual will be responsible for the safe operation of the West River Ice Center Zamboni’s, with secondary responsibilities of custodial/maintenance duties ensuring that the facility is safe, clean and well maintained. Duties will be performed in a conscientious, professional manner. Ice surfaces will be maintained to ensure safe usage by all users. Work schedule will vary due to facility programming.

Job Summary
The position is responsible to assist the Recreation/Facilities Manager in the supervision of Dickinson Parks and Recreation aquatic operations. Facility Supervisor-Aquatics assists in the supervision of the West River Community Center’s aquatics programs, indoor/outdoor pools and associated areas.
Essential Functions

- Provides daily supervision of assigned programs, facilities, and personnel, ensuring that quality customer service is provided and facilities are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
- Monitors pool maintenance, adheres to all DPR and health department policies, works closely with facility maintenance staff and maintains appropriate emergency procedures.
- Interviews, hires, trains, supervises and terminates part-time/seasonal aquatics staff.
- Assists in maintaining, purchasing, and upkeep for equipment in assigned areas.
- Prepares inventories of materials, supplies, and equipment needed for facilities and programing.
- Assists in planning, supervising, coordinating, and evaluating programs and lessons as assigned.
- Conducts monthly in-service trainings for all part-time aquatics staff.
- Communicates clearly and regularly with staff and is responsible for staff scheduling.
- Coordinates and conducts monthly lifeguard certification courses and WSI training as needed.
- Communicates effectively and maintains positive working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.
- Represents Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.
- Attends regular department/committee meetings and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
- Two years of experience in facility supervision with a focus on aquatics preferred but not required; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Current certification in APO/CPO, American Red Cross LGI (LGI-T preferred), WSI (WSI-T preferred), First Aid and CPR; or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months of employment.

Individuals will be responsible for providing a safe environment at our pool facilities. Lifeguards will provide a positive image of the facility and its services by attentive, conscientious, and courteous behavior on the job. Other duties include watching swimmers through safe scanning practices, maintaining order in the pool areas, test and treat water accordingly, complete accident and rescue reports as necessary, perform CPR and first aid as needed as well as being trained to enforce safe operations of slides, ladders, and general pool use guidelines. Year-round position; Monday – Sunday.
