Job Description
Position will be responsible to assist the Park Operations Manager in the maintenance/operations of parks and other grounds, specifically related to construction projects, mechanical repairs, irrigation installation/repair, and other general maintenance tasks. The position will work out of the Park Maintenance Shop.
Essential Functions

- Participates daily in activities related to the maintenance/operations of parks and facility grounds.
- Performs turf and landscape maintenance functions including: refuse pickup, seeding, sodding, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, aerating, irrigation installation, and irrigation repairs.
- Assists in the maintenance of buildings and facilities in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions in accordance with park maintenance standards.
- Assists in construction and renovation of park grounds, facilities, and equipment.
- Operates a variety of park maintenance equipment such as: mowers, tractors, trucks, shop equipment, trimmers and field groomers in a safe manner.
- Assists in training and supervising seasonal maintenance staff.
- Communicates effectively with proper subordinates and maintains positive working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.
- Represents Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.
- May be required to work as Ice Center Specialist during winter months.
- Attends regular department meetings and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
- One year of experience in maintenance or grounds work; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED; or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months of employment.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing routinely throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Classified as full-time fully benefited position which is approved and regularly funded for. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a half hour lunch break. Friday 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with no lunch break. Occasional special event, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Receives all defined DPR benefits described under the Benefits section of the Personnel Policy Manual.

The position is responsible for assisting the Facility Maintenance Manager in the supervision of Dickinson Parks and Recreation facilities maintenance. The Facility Maintenance Supervisor will direct the maintenance of the West River Community Center, Outdoor Pool, Stark County Veteran’s Pavilion, Heart River Retreat, and will assist with the maintenance of the West River Ice Center and associated areas.
Essential Functions

- Assists in daily supervision of facility maintenance staff, maintenance operations, and grounds.
- Assists in training, hiring and supervising full-time, part-time and seasonal facility maintenance staff.
- Operates a variety of facility maintenance equipment such as: sweepers, work lifts, bobcats, loaders, forklifts and scissor lifts in a safe manner.
- Performs equipment repair and maintenance.
- Responsible for pool maintenance which includes routinely checking pumps, filters, chemical feeders, valves, water chemistry and chemicals.
- Performs landscape maintenance functions.
- Assist with the installation and removal of ice.
- Assists in the preparation of bid documents and specifications, and solicitation of bids. Develops relationships with outside vendors.
- Maintains buildings and facilities in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Supervises and performs preventive maintenance functions in accordance with facility maintenance standards.
- Communicates effectively and maintains positive working relationships with other employees, agencies, and the public.
- Represents Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.
- Attends regular department/committee meetings and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and two years of experience in facility maintenance supervision including basic knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current certification in CPO, CPR/First Aid/AED; or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months of employment.

LOCATION: Heart River Golf Course
AGE REQUIREMENT: Must be age 18+
JOB DESCRIPTION:
HRGC is looking for a starter/ranger for the busy golf season. This position works closely with golf course guests and is essential in helping to provide a pleasant golfing experience. Employees may be assigned other duties as determined by management. Essential duties will include, but are not limited to:
Greet guests and provide direction; cordially explain golf course policies; check golfers receipts and cart forms before they tee off; monitor the tee box and maintain punctual tee times; monitor the driving range and remove baskets as needed; pick up any loose trash from around the property; repairing ball marks on the greens; keep track of the golf course pace of play; set up of on course contests and signs when needed for an event. Individual must have knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and skills of golf as well as have a flexible schedule. Season runs March – September (weather dependent); Monday – Sunday.

Individual will be responsible for creating and leading various unique art projects for 6-12 year old in a classroom setting at the West River Ice Center for four days a week. Individual has experience with youth and knowledge of a variety of basic art skills for youth to create projects that use the individual’s creative expression. Responsible for developing daily art projects each week and implementing them. Can give verbal clear directions to participants. A confident leader and role model for the participants in the program and Summer Art Instructor. Able to take direction from the Program Supervisor. Lifeguards will provide a positive image of the facility and its services by attentive, conscientious, and courteous behavior on the job. Other duties include watching swimmers through safe scanning practices, maintaining order in the pool areas, test and treat water accordingly, complete accident and rescue reports as necessary, perform CPR and first aid as needed as well as being trained to enforce safe operations of slides, ladders, and general pool use guidelines.
