Buildings/Grounds Positions

Type: Full-Time 
Location: West River Community Center and West River Ice Center and associated areas.
Job Description:
Position will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the West River Community Center, Outdoor Pool, West River Ice Center and associated areas.  This individual must possess facility mechanical and maintenance skills and be able to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, agencies and the public.  Person must be willing to work weekend and/or holiday hours.

Education/Experience:  Associates Degree and two years of experience in facility maintenance including basic knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Salary: Range based on education and experience.

Benefits: Benefits will include the standard benefits package of the District.

Facility Positions

Type: Part-Time
Location: West River Community Center
Job Description:
Individuals will be responsible for organizing and instructing senior specific aerobic activities, classes, and participants. Must obtain SilverSneakers® certification within 3 months of employment. The instructors offer support and exercise modifications in a welcoming environment.  Year-round position.

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal
LOCATION: West River Ice Center
AGE REQUIREMENT: 18+
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals will be responsible for the opening/closing of public skate, as well as collecting fees, patrolling the ice, light cleaning, and provide customer service in a professional manner. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.  Season runs:  October – March; Friday – Sunday.

Type: Part-Time/Seasonal
Location: West River Community Center
Job Description:
Individuals will be responsible for providing a safe environment at our pool facilities. Lifeguards will provide a positive image of the facility and its services by attentive, conscientious, and courteous behavior on the job. Other duties include watching swimmers through safe scanning practices, maintaining order in the pool areas, test and treat water accordingly, complete accident and rescue reports as necessary, perform CPR and first aid as needed as well as being trained to enforce safe operations of slides, ladders, and general pool use guidelines. Year-round position; Monday – Sunday.

LOCATION: West River Community Center
AGE REQUIREMENT: 16+
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals will be responsible for providing a safe environment for the pool patrons and promoting a positive image of the facility by being attentive, conscientious, and courteous on the job. Job duties include the enforcement of pool and facility rules, assisting in maintaining order in the pool and locker rooms, keeping the aquatics area clean, assisting in emergency action plans, and developing positive working relationships with other staff members. Year-round position; Monday – Sunday.

Recreation Program Positions

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal
LOCATION: Area Gymnasiums
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals will be responsible for officiating adult league and youth tournament basketball games. Must be able to explain and enforce rules, assess fouls, use proper signals and display control of games. Weekday evening hours required along with occasional weekend tournaments.  Season runs:  October – March. 

TYPE: Part-Time/Seasonal
LOCATION: Area Gymnasiums
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Individuals will be responsible to attend and keep the official score of adult basketball league and youth tournaments games. In this role, you must pay close attention to the action on the court; you will keep track of the score of both teams and update the scoreboard after confirming each point is valid. Individuals will also be responsible to open and close gymnasiums for adult league. Weekday evening hours required along with occasional weekend tournaments. Season runs: October – March.
