Group Fitness Program

No matter your fitness level you are sure to find a fun and rewarding class that fits your individual needs. All instructors are either certified or have group fitness training. All Yoga instructors are Yoga certified and all Pilates instructors are Pilates certified. Instructors are also required to be certified in CPR.

Land Based Group Fitness Classes are either held in Studio A, Studio B in the upper level of the community center or Studio C in the lower level. Some classes may also be held in the Multi-Athletic Court (MAC).  Aqua Aerobic classes are held in the Leisure or Lap Pool.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS: All of our group fitness classes begin with a 5-minute warm-up followed by a 5-minute stretching segment. The aerobic portion of the classes last approximately 25-35 minutes. After the aerobic segment a toning, cool-down and stretch segment are followed.

Group Fitness classes are for ages 14 and up.  Ages 12-13 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Classes are subject to change on a monthly basis.

Aqua Aerobics

**All the water workouts are for men and women and begin with a stretching segment and end with a cool down.  You need not be a swimmer to come to class.  Enjoy yourself and feel fit!

Aqua Aerobics – Early Bird Classes (5:30am & 6:00am) – Moderate to high intensity workout using weights, bar bells and noodles.

Aqua Aerobics (8:00am & 9:00 am) – Low to moderate intensity. This class begins with a brisk warm up, jogging in place and some arm exercises to get the heart rate up and try to sustain for at least 15 minutes.  Using the edge of the pool for support you’ll also work on balance, good posture and deep breathing.

Aqua Aerobics at 5:30pm – Moderate to high intensity workout using weights, bar bells and noodles.

Aqua Zumba – Known as the Zumba “pool party”, Aqua Zumba gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout.  Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class.  Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness desciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning and, most of all, exhilarating beyond belief! (Water Shoes Recommended)

Body Basics

Learn to use weights, bands and balls while elevating your heart rate. Dedicated just for beginners.

Boot Camp

In this class you use your body weight to perform various moves on different muscle groups.  Boot Camp drills and toning exercises will get you in shape and get your heart rate up.

Body Sculpt

This class is designed to give you a lean and sculpted look using hand weights.  You choose your weights, 2 lbs. and up.  We use repetition to cause muscle fatigue which helps build that sculpted look.  Our instructors will take you through a full hour of total body work with moves working shoulders, back, arms, legs, and abs with little to no cardio.  You will be instructed on how to use proper form and technique to give you great results.  Whether you are a long time group fitness participant, or new to group fitness, this class is for you.  With moves that are easy to follow, this really is a class for everybody.

Cardio/Fit Pump

In this class you will incorporate weighted bars, weights and tubing to promote the improvement of muscular endurance while conditioning the muscles to respond with definition resulting in a lean body composition.

Cycling

Indoor cycling is a high-intensity exercise that involves using a stationary exercise bicycle in a classroom setting.  The class involves an instructor at the front of the class who leads participants through routines that are designed to simulate situations similar to riding a bike outdoors.  The atmosphere includes low lighting and music to motivate.

Foam Roller Massage

A low intensity workout that utilizes foam rollers while massaging various muscle groups.

Forever Fit

Lower impact aerobics in several different formats.

HITT

(High Intensity Interval Training) is a specialized form of interval training that involves short intervals of maximum intensity exercise separated by longer intervals of low to moderate intensity exercise. Because it involves briefly pushing yourself beyond the upper end of your aerobic exercise zone, it offers you several advantages that traditional steady-state exercise (where you keep your heart rate within you aerobic zone) can’t provide.

Kettlebells

A high intensity full body workout that incorporates a kettlebell weight.  This class is a strength and cardiovascular workout in one.

Kids Fit

Kids ages 3 to 5 will learn about their muscle groups while doing fun activities such as marching in place to warm up, leaping like a frog, stomping like a rabbit, practicing monkey arms and other fun activities such as red light/green light.

**PARENTS MUST ACCOMPANY THEIR CHILD TO THE PROGRAM AND BE PRESENT DURING CLASS.  No street shoes allowed, includes no sandals, flip flops or boots.

Kids Group Fitness Classes

Classes are much like the adult versions of these classes only geared toward children. Instructors will focus on proper warm up and cool down techniques to form healthy habits for the developing child.

Pilates

Pilates is performed in a reclined or sitting position.  Most of the exercises are low impact and focus on strengthening and stretching.  Pilates builds strength without excess bulk creating a sleek, toned body.  It teaches body awareness, good posture, and proper breathing.  Pilates improves flexibility, agility, and range of motion.  It is suitable for all ages, the physically active, those who are sedentary and male or female.

Piyo

Low intensity strength workout.  This workout combines yoga and pilates and focuses on lower and upper body strength while using your bodyweight.

SilverSneakers

SilverSneakers® – Classic – Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscle strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support. This class can be adapted by the student depending on their fitness level and abilities. It is suitable for beginning to intermediate skill levels.

SilverSneakers® – Muscular Strength & Range of Movement Class (MSROM) – Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakers® – Cardio Circuit – Combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout.  Upper body strength work using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography.  A chair is offered for support, head to toe stretching, and complete relaxation in a comfortable position.

SilverSneakers® – YogaStretch – This class is designed to challenge you physically and mentally with a variety of simple and safe yoga exercises that you’ll do at your own pace.  Using a chair for support, you’ll increase flexibility, build endurance and learn how to relax and think more clearly.

SilverSneakers® – Splash – Activate your urge for variety!  Splash offers fun, shallow-water movement to improve agility and flexibility while addressing cardiovascular, strength and endurance conditioning.  No swimming ability is required, and a SilverSneakers kickboard or other aquatic equipment is used to improve strength, balance and coordination.

TRX

The TRX Suspension Trainers are the original, best in-class workout system that leverages gravity and your body weight to perform hundreds of exercises.  You’re in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise.

WOD (Workout of the Day)

is a class with a variety of strength and cardio exercises that your instructor will put you through for the day.  The workouts are comprised of functional and conditioning movements to improve strength, flexibility, cardio and all-over conditioning.

Yoga / Power Yoga

Yoga is a low impact class based on the Eastern idea of moving energy through the body.  Yoga is for all ages, male and female and you do not have to be flexible to start.  Flexibility along with a number of other benefits will come as you take these classes.

Zumba

A dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto “Beto” Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. The Zumba class uses Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away.  The workout provides fitness benefits because its routines feature interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms and resistance training, which are intended to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat.
